| Lake Amistad Fishing Report Fishing Report Archive Aug 1, 2010 As always, there are several working patterns at the same time on Lk Amistad. Daily weather conditions and time of day will dictate fish activity and best lure choices... The water is high and fishing is a blast. Topwater spooks, weedless frogs, PopR's, spinnerbaits, and Flukes are working well in the brushy shallow areas. The brush that is still green is attracting large concentrations of dragonflies and that is attracting fish... The Hydrilla and Peppergrass are growing fast and is in good condition. I'm finding grass just below the surface in select areas from 10 to 20 ft. Breaklines and points with thick grass have been holding quality fish. Jigs and Texas rigs are working well in these areas... The deep dropshot bite is always a good way to catch fish if weather allows. Main lake points and humps 30 - 60 ft can produce quantity and quality... A friend and I won a local team tournament yesterday with a three fish limit that weighed just over 16lbs. We caught several quality fish with a 5 1/2 being our largest. Early topwater and deep Texas rigs were the choices of the day.
